Setting up
-
Open the DMG and drag Trackpal to Applications
Then eject the disk image — you will not need it again.
-
Launch it
Trackpal lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. Look for it along the top of the screen.
-
Grant Accessibility permission
macOS will ask. Moving the cursor is impossible without it, so this is the one permission Trackpal genuinely needs. You can revoke it any time in
System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility. -
Click the menu bar icon to read your pairing code
The code is unique to this Mac, and it stays the same across restarts.
-
Type that code into the iPhone app, then tap your Mac
Your Mac appears in the list on its own. After the first time, it reconnects without being asked.
The phone half
The iPhone app comes from the App Store and is a separate install. Both halves have to be on the same Wi-Fi network — or connected by a USB cable, which is faster and works on networks that block devices from talking to each other.
If the phone sits on "Looking for Macs…", the Mac app is either not running or not yet permitted under Accessibility.
